Oily: The Story of a Droplet’s Dream
Some stories start in the most unexpected places. This one begins in a busy kitchen during festive season, with a single droplet of used cooking oil that was about to change the world.
The Beginning
Oily, a curious used cooking oil droplet, was destined for a fate all too common during the festive season — a one-way trip from the frying pan to the nearest drain. But destiny, as it often does, had other plans. Through a fortunate twist, Oily found himself clinging to the side of a frying pan, watching helplessly as his fellow droplets disappeared down drains and toilets.
From his perch among the dirty dishes, Oily witnessed the shocking waste from a single meal. He watched in horror as his used cooking oil friends vanished into the pipes below. Oily knew their destination all too well — landfills and municipal water treatment plants, where they’d remain trapped forever, harming the environment.
A Chance Encounter
“There has to be a better way!” Oily thought to himself.
Just then, an excited human burst into the kitchen, carrying something that would change everything. “You won’t believe what I’m using to fuel my car!” they exclaimed, placing a large container of biodiesel on the table.
Oily’s attention was immediately drawn to a glistening droplet on the container’s cap. Mustering his courage, he called out, “Hey there! Are you really what I think you are? Were you once like me?”
The droplet sparkled proudly. “I’m BioDi! And yes, just last week I was exactly where you are now. But look at me today — I’m clean, renewable energy! Instead of polluting waterways, I’m powering vehicles and even airplanes!”
The Promise
Fascinated, Oily spent hours learning all about the transformation process. That day, he made a solemn promise: no more used cooking oil would be wasted on his watch. Every drop could have a second life as clean energy.
And so began Oily’s mission. As he spread the word about proper recycling, he discovered countless other droplets eager to make a difference. Together, they’re building a future where no cooking oil is ever wasted — one drop at a time.
